About Lori

One of the greatest gifts in life we can give is time and energy to others, and it is a privilege to be able to do so as your therapist. After working as a high school teacher, I realized that my passion was connecting with people on a more personal level to help them achieve their full potential. I became a school counselor, and later transitioned to practicing as a full-time therapist, which I have been doing since 2018.

As a therapist, I feel it is imperative to create an environment which enables my clients to truly express what their thoughts and feelings are; a person must feel comfortable in their therapeutic setting. Counseling does not need to be a fear-provoking or anxiety-inducing experience; rather, it should be a place a client looks forward to going to become the best version of themselves possible. I have vast experience in working with survivors of trauma, children and teens, members of the LGBTQ+ population, and first responders. I enjoy using various therapeutic modalities with clients, including Cognitive Behavior, Mindfulness, Emotion Focused, Solution Focused, and Psychoanalytic Therapies, among others. However, I think it is most important to do what works best for each client individually, and take feedback; this is a service you are paying for, and while I may be the provider, it is important to make this a collaborative experience to make it the best, most effective experience possible.

I achieved my BA in English and Secondary Education from Montclair State University. Both my Master’s Degree in School Counseling and Certification in Professional Counseling were obtained through Monmouth University. I maintain my credentials by taking continuing education courses in ethics, social and cultural competency, opioid education, and other areas of interest, particularly adolescent mood disorders, LGBTQ+ studies, and PTSD.

In my free time, I enjoy being at the beach (no matter the season!), binge watching a good show, and reading.

The name BROOKSHORE is a combination of where I come from, Brooklyn, and where I am now, The Shore; the logo itself has the Brooklyn Bridge inside of a seashell.
